Bright beach huts with jacqui ma and tartan bags in front

The enduring familiarity of the tartan laundry bag

I am definitely not the only designer who sees the charm in this lowly humble laundry bag. i’ve written about this fabric before, and i’ll probably write about it again!

I grew up surrounded by these laundry bags used to store duvets, old pillows and piles of clothes. Later on i saw the familiar fabrics on the streets of hackney, when i moved to london from sydney and lugged my worldly belongings around london in these when i moved from one flat share to another.

The laundrettes where i washed my clothes in the early days when i paid my electricity with a plastic key and lugged my dirty washing to the local laundrette on the high street with a book.

I designed this range because this fabric is nostalgic to me and hopefully some other people out there.
