My design inspiration

I grew up as the only chinese girl in my class, i always felt like i did not really belong.

That’s why i always loved wearing a school uniform, because it made me feel more the same as everyone else.

As a designer i also loved the style and aesthetic of school bags. The fact that you can still personalise it, but they start out all the same as a blank canvas to add to them your own details, charms, dirt, wear & tear and your unique way of wearing them.

Different sports also have their own ‘uniforms’, aesthetic and culture overlayed and underlaid with functionality.

When we commute to work each day, we do in the familiarity of going to school. We have our work ‘unforms’ and even though you can wear what you want (mostly) to work, you might still crave that same-ness, that feeling of belonging, that you remember from
